PROJECTS: Direct Community Services
ANIMAL MANAGEMENT PLANNING
Indigenous SPCA's first project with many communities is Animal Management Planning. This project is initiated with several conversations, in-person and via video chat.
It often includes distributing a survey to community members to garner their perspectives and input.

EMPATHY DEVELOPMENT
When possible, Indigenous SPCA will also facilitate a fun, empathy-developing, photography project with youth interested in participating.
The students can win prizes for their photos and also receive payments when their images are licensed for use.
ANIMAL WELLNESS CLINICS
Sometimes embarked upon while facilitating animal management planning, is our initiating veterinary project that includes bringing a non-profit, mobile vet team to the community to do dog & cat wellness exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and parasite control treatments (fleas, ticks, worms, etc.).

IN-COMMUNITY SPAY & NEUTERS
Indigenous SPCA's second visit to a community usually includes bringing a non-profit, mobile vet clinic that can provide spay and neuter surgeries for dogs and cats.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
While in the community, Indigenous SPCA's team will often work with the local education department to schedule some education programs for children and youth. These include providing the students (and schools) with various printed materials, like books and worksheets, related to how to be safe around dogs and tips on animal care.

REHOMING DOGS & CATS
Indigenous SPCA helps to rehome dogs and cats. However, that is typically done via our website and by networking with various other shelter and 'rescue' organizations.
We do provide supports to communities interested in establishing their own animal shelter facilities.

What Support Do You Need?
Indigenous SPCA also acts a conduit of support. Our partners are ready to provide various recourses, including some funding, to folks, organizations and administrations within Indigenous communities, sea to sea to sea, that are working to make life healthier and safer for all residents, whether they have two legs or four.
Please get in touch (info@Indigenousspca.com) to let us know what support(s) you may be interested in.
